1995

Drawing from years of experience in the plastics manufacturing and furniture manufacturing industries, PURforms president Rick Raimer recognized that the sources for molded polyurethane products were quite sparse, and offered little technical expertise. With a group of investors, a small rented facility in downtown Grand Rapids, and a lot of sweat equity, PURforms began with the goal of providing high quality, technical solutions for companies seeking molded polyurethane products. The first products manufactured at PURforms were automotive interior parts, industrial molded seals and toys made with microcellular foams, furniture components molded with rigid foams, and theatre seating cushions made from flexible foams. During the first years of business, the majority of customers were located in the Grand Rapids area, however it was not long before PURforms began servicing customers throughout the United States such as California, Florida, and also to Mexico.

1999

After outgrowing its original location, PURforms moved to a larger location to better serve its loyal customers and increase capability to service new customers.  It was also at this time that PURforms began to assist prospective clients with the design and development of their ideas, especially in the sporting goods industry.  These experiences have helped PURforms become a prime source for getting a concept or idea developed and ready to be presented to the marketplace.  PURforms began to invest in design tools such as 3 Dimensional CAD systems to speed up design and protype time in order to get products in the hands of customers faster.

2003

For almost a decade PURforms headquartered its business in Grand Rapids, Michigan, though had never resided in a facility of their own.  While searching for more space to occupy, a building in Rick’s hometown of Lowell became available, and was eventually purchased as the new headquarters for PURforms.  The facility provided 60,000 square feet of space, with ample room to grow and expand the capabilities of the business.  It also provided the opportunity to help a local community that had been ravaged by businesses closing and jobs disappearing.

2007

In response to our customers, PURforms receives ISO900 certification.

Now approaching two decades of business, PURforms has added its own full service tooling area equipped with CNC cutting equipment.  We have added new technologies to our reptoire like robotic, reactive urethane coating; rapid prototyping with full scale 3D design and printing; and automated production lines.  We are continuing to invest in new equipment and new technologies, invest in people, and in our community.  We seek to provide the highest quality, most technically advanced product to our ever growing customer base.  Let us show you how your business can benefit from a partnership with PURforms, Inc.
